The Founder of Rotary International, Paul Harris, was a visionary whose initiative led to the formation of one of the world’s most prominent service organizations. Born in 1868 in Wisconsin, Harris grew up with a deep sense of community and a belief in the power of connections.

In 1905, Harris, along with three friends – Silvester Schiele, Gustavus Loehr, and Hiram Shorey – conceived the idea of Rotary. The name “Rotary” originated from the group’s practice of rotating meetings among the members’ offices, which symbolized their commitment to networking and collaboration.
